Kenty Goes from First at Ghost Train to DFL Champion

A month ago, Jennifer Kenty put on an impressive display of speed when she dominated the Ghost Train Rail Trail Race 100-miler, winning the race outright by 2 ½ hours and clocking the third-fastest women’s time in course history. Four weeks later, Kenty once again turned heads – though this time it was for her patient endurance as she outdueled the rest of the field at the Race for DFL.

After 1-Year Hiatus, Race for DFL to Return in November

Last-person-standing format events have taken the ultrarunning world by storm in recent years, thanks in large part to the success of the original event of that format, Big Dog’s Backyard Ultra in Tennessee. In 2019, Massachusetts made its first foray into last-person-standing racing when Race Director Amy Rusiecki created the Race for DFL.

Runners Crank Out the Miles, Turn Up the Fun as Chesterfield Gorge Ultra Returns

WEST CHESTERFIELD, Mass. — Amy Rusiecki knew the soundtrack to the Chesterfield Gorge Ultra would be the sound of water. Rusiecki, the race director and a resident of nearby South Deerfield, runs regularly at the Trustees of Reservations’ Chesterfield Gorge Reservation, so she’s deeply familiar with the burbling of the Westfield River as it flows alongside the rock and dirt jeep road that serves as Rusiecki’s race course.

After Postponement, Chesterfield Gorge Ultra Officially Canceled

When Race Director Amy Rusiecki postponed the Chesterfield Gorge 30-Hour Ultra from May to November, the COVID-19 pandemic had a firm grip on the Northeast. At the time, cautious optimism existed that the region – and the United States as a whole – would do what was necessary to get the pandemic under control and allow some semblance of normalcy to return.
