6 Hours of Slush, Ice and Snow Usher in New TARC Season

WESTWOOD, Mass. – A light drizzle pelted around 100 runners gathered in front of Powissett Lodge a few minutes before 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 25. A feeling of anxiety filled the air as they listened to race director Josh Katzman’s final instructions prior to the start of To Hale and Back, the six-hour trail ultramarathon that officially kicked off the Trail Animals Running Club’s new season.

MassUltra Roundup: Ruck A Chuck, Antelope Island, Chuckanut and Mesquite Canyon

MassUltra Roundup: Caumsett Park 50K Championship, Naked Bavarian, and the MS 50

More than 20 ultras took place around the United States last weekend, and Massachusetts was represented in at least three of them. The most notable was in nearby New York where Bay State residents were among the fastest at the USATF 50K National Championship at Caumsett State Historic Park. MassUltra Roundup: Hashawha Hills, Antelope Canyon, and the Post Oak Lodge Challenge

At least 22 ultramarathons took place in the United States last weekend, and at least three of them included runners from Massachusetts. Those races – the Hashawha Hills 50K in Maryland, the Antelope Canyon 50-miler in Arizona, and the Post Oak Lodge 50K in Oklahoma – are featured in this week’s roundup.
