After a one-year hiatus due to construction at Massasoit State Park, the Massasoit Trail Race 50K was slated to return in 2020 with a race date of Sunday, Oct. 25. The COVID-19 global pandemic threatened to keep that from happening, but race organizers from Northeast Race Management LLC held out hope for several months that the event would ultimately take place. They paused the processing of registration fees, allowing runners to continue signing up for the race while avoiding the hassle of a tedious refund process should that ultimately become necessary.

Frontierro, Lynch Earn Course Records at East End 50K
The inaugural East End 50K was an intimate affair with 17 starters and just a dozen finishers in 2018. Runners once again enjoyed a close-knit community feel in year two, held Sunday, August 4, even as the race experienced a surge in popularity.
The starting field nearly doubled in size with 33 runners toeing the line at Borderland State Park in Easton, Mass. After eight hours had passed, 27 runners had finished the race on the five-loop course and both the men’s and women’s course records had been smashed. The top five men all finished under last year’s winning time of 6:01:31 by Charn McAllister, and the top four women all dipped under Polina Lepniakova’s winning mark of 6:48:22 from 2018.
All in all, it was a day of big performances and tough racing. Continue reading Frontierro, Lynch Earn Course Records at East End 50K

Pulli waited until May to kick off his 2019 ultramarathon season, but the 42-year-old resident of Medford, Mass., raced like he was in mid-season form at the second annual Watuppa 50K and seventh annual Watuppa Trail Races on Sunday, May 19, at Watuppa Reservation in Fall River, Mass. Runners Feel the Heat at East End 50K
The weather presented some unforgiving conditions for runners at Northeast Race Management, LLC’s inaugural East End Trail Races on Sunday, Aug. 5, at Borderland State Park in Easton, Mass.
More than 135 runners took part in the event, which offered three distances to runners, including a 50K ultramarathon. That race had the smallest field with just 17 runners taking on the challenge on a day where the humidity was high and the temperature climbed to 90 degrees.
Of the 17 who started the race, 13 would ultimately finish – with one being disqualified for apparently cutting the course (Editor’s Note: This is discussed in depth in a separate story). Continue reading Runners Feel the Heat at East End 50K
