Runners Feast on Miles at Third Annual TARCkey Trot
Make no mistake, runners didn’t go on a pre-Thanksgiving mileage diet at the Trail Animals Running Club’s third annual TARCkey Trot 6-Hour Ultra on Sunday, Nov. 18.
Sure, the top mileage total looked a bit lighter than the previous two years, but that had nothing to do with cutting back; there’s a reasonable explanation. The first two years of the race were dominated by Patrick Caron, one of American ultrarunning’s top young prospects. After posting 37.2 miles in 2016 and 40.3 in 2017, the 21-year-old from Needham, Mass., missed this year’s TARCkey Trot to compete at the North Face Endurance Challenge championship race in San Francisco (ultimately canceled due to poor air quality from wildfires), leaving the door open for a new TARCkey Trot champion to emerge. Fiore Savors Final Tune-Up at TARCkey Trot as Iceland Awaits
Thanksgiving loomed just five days away, but Joshua Fiore wasn’t at the Trail Animals Running Club’s second annual TARCkey Trot 6-Hour Run on Saturday, Nov. 18, hoping to burn off a few extra calories before chowing down on a holiday feast.

The Trail Animals Running Club’s second annual TARCkey Trot 6-Hour Ultra and 5K trail races took place Saturday, Nov. 18, on the trails of Whipple Hill and Wright-Locke Farm in Winchester and Lexington, Mass. The course consisted of a 3.1-mile loop that runners circled either once in the 5K race or as many times as they could within the six-hour time limit in the ultra event. TARC Serves Up Pre-Thanksgiving Trail Feast at Inaugural TARCkey Trot
WINCHESTER AND LEXINGTON, Mass. – The newest addition to the Trail Animals Running Club’s TARC Trail Series was, in a way, a feast before the feast.
The inaugural TARCkey Trot 6-Hour Ultra, which took place Saturday, Nov. 19, was scheduled to give runners an opportunity to feast on technical trails, burn some extra calories, and chew up some extra miles before chowing down on smorgasbords of food five days later on Thanksgiving.
