From the legendary Yeti Balls masterfully crafted by Alyssa Adreani, to the “Skeptical Jeff” – a quesadilla with peanut butter, banana, and chocolate from a 3-foot tall chocolate bunny first created at the 2017 TARC Spring Classic, to various other innovations in the TARC Test Kitchen, the Trail Animals have a knack for cooking up tasty snacks and inventing palatable new concoctions.

Following a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the TARC Summer Classic returned for its 10th running on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021, at Noon Hill Reservation in Medfield, Mass. Seventy-seven runners turned out to take on the 40-mile and 50K trail ultramarathon races, with 46 ultimately finishing their respective distances on a hot and humid day where the temperature soared to 90 degrees.

With 100 on the Horizon, LeBlanc Blazes at Summer Classic
The Idaho Mountain Trail Ultra Festival (IMTUF) 100-miler is a month away, but that didn’t stop Samantha LeBlanc from entering the TARC Summer Classic for a tune-up run.
IMTUF is a rugged mountain race, whereas the Summer Classic on Saturday, Aug. 10, had plenty of rocks and roots but a lot more runnable surface on the trails of Noon Hill Reservation in Medfield, Mass. That meant there’d be a lot more running and a lot less power-hiking practice for LeBlanc – and she made the most of the opportunity to throw down some speed.
