Pietari 8th as Massachusetts Trio Completes Western States 100

The center of the ultrarunning universe was in Squaw Valley and Auburn, Calif., on June 25-26 as 353 runners tested their luck and endurance on the historic trails of the Western States 100.

MassUltra Roundup: Cruel Jewel, Rhode Island Red, Worlds End, and Keys

Flummerfelt, Feinhaus Endure Cruel Jewel 100-Mile

The folks in Georgia aren’t joking around when they call it “cruel.”

The Cruel Jewel 100 actually measures 105.9 miles through the Chattahoochee National Forest in northern Georgia. Along the way, 33,000 feet of vertical gain are sprinkled in – oftentimes through thick humidity or whatever else Mother Nature chooses to throw at the runners. MassUltra Roundup: Dissinger is Jack Bristol 50K Champ; Defusco 2nd in 100K

Jake Dissinger spent the 2015 season racing at the front of the pack, highlighted by first-place finishes at the Cape Cod Trail Race 50K, BURCS Summer Fat Ass 6-Hour Run, and the Six Hours in Paradise 6-Hour Race.
