2022 CCFFA 50K will Once Again be Virtual

The Cape Cod Frozen Fatass 50K/25K will be back for its 16th edition in 2022, and for the second year it will be held as a virtual event.

The move to a virtual race was made by the Cape Cod Ultrarunning Society in 2021 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic is not yet over, with the new Omicron variant beginning to surge across the United States, so the 2022 event will once again be virtual.

The announcement was made on the event’s Facebook page:

“Cape Cod Frozen Fatass 50K for 2020 is again, run on your own. If you would like to run the course on Sandy Neck, keep track of your time and then post it here on this page. That way we can keep the Frozen Fatass alive until next year when hopefully we can have a 2023 CCFF 50K,” the race organizers wrote.

The same rules will apply in 2022 as were in use in 2021. Runners will have from January 15 to February 15 to run the course at Sandy Neck Beach in Barnstable. Race organizers cautioned that the course will be unmanned, so first-timers should only attempt it if they can run with a veteran of the race who knows the course. The course may or may not be marked.
