The Village Ultra is returning for a second year, but this time it will have a slightly different format.
The inaugural event, which took place in November 2017, offered runners 10-hour and 6-hour timed races. This year’s event – which will be held Sept. 1-2 at New Salem Town Common in New Salem, Mass. – will offer 24-hour and 12-hour races. Runners will have a variety of options to log miles, including a quarter-mile paved loop, a two-mile out-and-back on a dirt road, and a short loop on gravel, dirt and grass.
The 24-hour race will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, and the 12-hour race will start at 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 2. Cost for the 24-hour race is $90; the 12-hour race costs $50.
A no-frills event, the race will serve as a fundraiser for R.C. Mahar Regional Middle School and High School.
Online registration closes at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27.
