Numerous new ultramarathons have popped up in Massachusetts this year – and now another can be added to the list.
The Village Ultra, a 10-hour timed event, will take place at 7 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at New Salem Town Common in New Salem, Mass. Additionally, a 6-hour offering will start at 11 a.m.
Runners will have the option of running a 10K trail loop, a quarter-mile paved loop, or a mixture of both surfaces.
The event was organized to raise awareness of Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS) and Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Streptococcal Infections (PANDAS). Proceeds will go to a local family to help secure treatment for their child who has PANS.
Registration for the Village Ultra can be done online here.
The Village Ultra offers ultrarunners a second timed running option for the weekend. A day earlier, the Trail Animals Running Club plays host to the second annual TARCkey Trot 6-hour Ultra at Wright Locke Farm and Whipple Hill in Winchester, Mass.
Registration for the TARCkey Trot takes place here.
