MassUltra Roundup: Fat Dog, Waldo, Silverton Alpine, and Lean Horse

Tom Morton has finished numerous 100-milers, but he notched a 120-mile finish in Canada; Jesse Kropelnicki had a breakout debut at the 100K distance in Oregon; Paul Rohde was speedy at altitude in Colorado; and Quang Le earned his first 100-mile finish while racing in South Dakota.

We also have updates on a pair of former Massachusetts residents who turned in big performances in their new states – Colton Gale and Charles Hornbaker.

MassUltra Roundup: Ragged 75, Eastern States, Bigfoot, and Steep Rock

Four big races and some big performances by local runners are featured in this week’s roundup. Needham’s Patrick Caron was the solo champion while South Deerfield’s Brian and Amy Rusiecki earned Stage Race victories in New Hampshire; Drew Quigley, Padraig Mullins and Sam Jurek all represented the Bay State at the finish line of the Eastern States 100; Lakeville’s Shaun Daylor battled to a top-10 finish in a 200-mile race; and Holden’s Michael Jones landed in the top 10 at a tough 50K in Connecticut. MassUltra Roundup: Moosalamoo, Beast of Burden, Volcanic 50, and E.T.

A Massachusetts duo did battle for the victory and a course record in Goshen, Vt., a Bay Stater earned his second 100-mile buckle at the Beast of Burden – Summer Edition, and other local ultrarunners took on races around Mount St. Helens and Area 51. MassUltra Roundup: High Lonesome, Viaduct Trail, Burning River, Lost Turkey, and Minnesota Voyageur

MassUltra Roundup: IAU 24-Hour World Championships

Massachusetts was represented on the world stage at the International Association of Ultrarunners’ 24-Hour World Championships on July 1-2 in Belfast, Ireland.

MassUltra Roundup: Catamount, Bay of Fundy, and Bryce

Massachusetts ultrarunners didn’t have to venture far from home to race on June 24-25 – well … other than the lucky few who got to run Western States (that’ll be included in another article) – because the Catamount Ultra 50K in Vermont and the inaugural 50K at the Bay of Fundy Marathon in Maine took place last weekend. Massachusetts residents won both of those races. Additionally, we tracked down results from the Bryce 50K on June 17 in Utah to round out this week’s roundup. MassUltra Roundup: Manitou’s Revenge, Bighorn, the Broken Arrow Skyrace, Drummer Hill, and Infinitus

Ben Nephew and Kehr Davis threw down strong performances en route to victories at Manitou’s Revenge in New York; Joseph D’Alessio, Christopher Agbay and Dane LeBlanc overcame freezing rain and massive quantities of mud to complete the Bighorn 100 in Wyoming; Michael Barrett conquered the grueling Broken Arrow Skyrace in California; and we tracked down older results from Drummer Hill in New Hampshire and Infinitus in Vermont in this week’s roundup.
